Cell phone batteries will be removable again

The new European rules for electric batteries and their operation will make life easier for owners of mobile phones and other electronic devices, such as tablets. Today, they usually have to make a trip to the service center to have the battery replaced as soon as its life is over. In the future, every portable battery in appliances will have to be removable and replaceable directly by the customer.

This follows from the preliminary agreement of the Council of the EU, the European Commission and the European Parliament on the new regulation on batteries. "We expect the regulation to be published in the middle of next year," Dominika Pospíšilová from the press department of the Ministry of the Environment told Práv. The deadline for the application of this obligation is 42 months, i.e. three and a half years from the date the Regulation becomes effective.
