Dangerous extension cords on our market: Risk of electric shock
Hazardous extension cords that fail to meet safety standards have appeared on the Slovak market, posing a risk of electric shock. The Slovak Trade Inspection warns against their use.
Hazardous extension cords have been found on the Slovak market, posing a significant safety risk. The Slovak Trade Inspection (SOI) issued a warning that these cords do not meet current safety regulations and can result in electric shock or even fire.
According to the SOI, these extension cords have inadequate insulation, improper wiring, and do not provide sufficient protection against short circuits or overload. Using such cables increases the risk of the surface heating up to dangerous levels, potentially causing overheating and fire. There is also a risk of electric shock, which poses a serious threat to the health of users.
The SOI has already withdrawn these products from the market but urges consumers to be cautious and check the extension cords they are using at home. Any doubts about their safety should prompt immediate discontinuation of use and potentially reporting the issue to the seller. Experts also recommend purchasing extension cords only from verified manufacturers and sellers who meet European safety standards.
This incident serves as a warning for consumers to pay closer attention to quality and certified products that ensure long-term safety and reliability.
