Updates to EMC and LVD Directives for 2025
In 2024, new EMC (2014/30/EU) and LVD (2014/35/EU) directives were adopted, which will come into effect in 2025. The main changes include the update of harmonized standards that manufacturers must comply with to ensure their products meet these directives.
Detailed Changes
The new EMC standards are designed to provide greater protection against electromagnetic interference. Manufacturers must update their technical documentation and declarations of conformity according to these standards (cemarking.net).
The LVD directive introduces new safety requirements for low-voltage devices, including improved user protection measures. Manufacturers must follow new guidelines for the assessment and labeling of components (Compliance & Risks).
The updates emphasize clear product labeling and expanded responsibilities for importers and distributors, including maintaining technical documentation for 10 years (CE Marking).
These changes will come into effect in 2025, following a transition period during which older standards can still be used (IBF Solutions). Manufacturers who do not comply with the new regulations may face sanctions and restrictions in the EU market (AMDEA).
